Description
Lloyds Bank is a building originally from the 18th century, located on the west side of Iron Gate. It is constructed of red brick and stands three storeys tall, featuring five windows. The building has late 19th-century moulded stone or stucco cornices, keyblocks at the first storey, and moulded dog-eared surrounds on all windows. The corners are accentuated with quoins, and the eaves have been simplified, replacing a former moulded cornice, while a parapet is present. The modern bank front is rusticated but designed to be sympathetic to the original style. The long return side of the building has five windows with flat brick arches and end keyblocks. Nos 40 to 43 and No 4 Sadler Gate form a cohesive group with this building.
