Description

This milepost, located approximately 1000 metres northeast of the West Bretton traffic island, dates from the mid to late 19th century. It features a cast-iron triangular front mounted on a stone post with a rounded top. The raised letters indicate the directions and distances, reading: "WAKEFIELD & DENBY DALE ROAD BRETTON WEST" and "DENBY WAKEFIELD DALE 5 MILES 5+ MILES."
