Description
The water pump niche, likely from the mid-19th century, is located in the wall immediately west of the garden wall to No. 26 on West Bretton Park Road. Constructed from ashlar stone, it features a Classical style with a round-arched niche, a dropped keystone, and moulded coping. The pump itself is no longer present, but there is a square recess at the back for the pump mechanism. This niche presumably served to draw water from the "Town Well," which is situated 25 meters to the north, providing water to the roadside.
