Coach House Approximately 90 Metres North Of Devonshire Hall

This building is a coach house, stables, and cottage that has been converted into a university hall of residence. It dates from the late 19th century and was converted around 1994. The structure is made of coursed squared gritstone and features a slate roof. It has two storeys and four unequal bays, designed in a Tudor style. The outer bays are gabled, while the third bay contains a round-arched carriageway with a gabled hay-loft door above it. The windows are mullioned and cross-shaped, and there is a continuous drip mould at the first-floor level that steps up over the arch. An elaborate louvred cupola with an ogee leaded roof and a tall wrought-iron finial is located above the second bay. The gable copings and two stacks at the eaves level on the right have been reduced in height, with a taller banded stack in the third bay. The interior has not been inspected.
