Description
Ethel Williams Hall is a house that has been converted into a university hall of residence. It was built in the mid-18th century and has undergone alterations and extensions in the 19th century. The building is constructed of ashlar stone with a plinth and features a graduated Lakeland slate roof. It has two storeys and is arranged in a 2:5:2 bay configuration, with the central five bays being taller than the others. The central entrance has a broken-pedimented Tuscan doorcase that contains a renewed door. The windows are sash style, with glazing bars, although some in the left wing lack these bars. The central block of the building has sill and floor bands, and the wings are set back slightly. To the left, there is a one-storey, three-bay wing that has similar sash windows and a hipped roof.
