Description
This is a milepost, likely from the mid-19th century, located on the south side of Selby Road in Garforth. It is made of stone and features cast-iron plates. The stone post has a triangular shape with a flat semicircular head. The cast-iron plates, which are bolted onto the head and each of the two outer faces, have raised lettering. The head is inscribed with "SELBY AND LEEDS" around the circumference, while the side plates indicate distances of "LEEDS 7 MILES" and "SELBY 13 MILES."
