Description
Nos. 21 and 22 on Commercial Street are mid-19th century shops and offices that have been altered in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed of ashlar and are three storeys tall with three first-floor windows. The shop facades date from the 20th century. On the first floor, there are tripartite windows with cornices and a segmental pediment above the centre window, which is supported on console brackets, along with panelled aprons. The second floor features three-light windows set in moulded architraves, with plate-glass sashes throughout. The right side has rusticated quoins, and there is a moulded cornice at the first-floor level and a string course at the second-floor level. The eaves cornice is decorated with modillions, and there is a blocking course with pierced panels that have guilloche decoration. The interior has not been inspected.
