Description
Nos. 286 and 287 on High Street are houses that have been converted into a shop and offices. They date from the early 19th century and have undergone some alterations in the mid-20th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with a stucco front and feature a slate roof with two side wall stacks. They exhibit classical detailing, including giant pilasters, a moulded cornice, a coped parapet, and gables. The structure has three storeys plus attics and consists of five bays. The full-width shopfront, which is a 20th-century addition, includes a fascia. Above the shopfront, there are three plain sash windows with paterae in the tympana, flanked by single square oriel windows topped with pediments. Above this, there are five smaller glazing bar sashes, and further up, five smaller sashes with moulded architraves. The interior has not been inspected.
