Description
252 and 253 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and restaurant. It dates from the early 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof with two stacks on the side walls. Notable architectural details include chamfered quoins, a band at the second floor, a dentilled cornice, and a renewed coped parapet. The structure has three storeys and five bays. The windows have projecting surrounds with keystones. The shopfront, which is from the early 20th century, includes pilasters and a central doorway beneath a full-width fascia. Above the shopfront, there are five plain sash windows, with the central one being blocked. Above these, there are five unusual asymmetrical glazing bar sliding sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
