Description
264 and 265 High Street is a house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the mid-18th century and has had some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a plain tile roof, with two paired coped gable stacks and a single ridge stack. There is a first-floor band, wooden eaves with modillions, and brick coped gables. The structure is two storeys high, plus attics, and consists of seven bays.
On the left side, there is an early 20th-century wooden shopfront that includes a central door, two flanking windows, and a fascia with a cornice. The right side has a late 20th-century glazed shopfront with an angled corner doorway and a plastic fascia. Above the shopfronts, there are seven 18th-century glazing bar sashes. Additionally, there is a segment-headed dormer on the right side. The return to St Martin's Lane features a blocked shop window, with a glazing bar sash above it. The interior has not been inspected.
