Description

No. 5 The Strait is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates back to the 17th century but was refronted in the late 18th century, with 19th-century additions. The building is likely timber framed, featuring a whitewashed brick front and a pantile roof. It has two storeys and two bays. The central entrance is a recessed half-glazed door, flanked by single shop windows that have wooden surrounds and cornices, all of which are from the 20th century. Above the door, there are two late 18th-century glazing bar sashes.

Inside, the property has chamfered spine beams, cleft joists, and a plastered stud wall. There is an 18th-century winder stair with stick balusters.
