Description
Dernstall House is a building that has been converted into two shops and a dental surgery. It dates back to the late 15th century, with alterations made in the 17th and 18th centuries, and was restored and remodeled in 1969. The structure features coursed rubble, dressed stone, and brick, with a timber-framed first floor that is rendered at the front and has rendered nogging at the rear. It has a steeply pitched pantile roof and a 20th-century brick underbuild, with a jettied first floor. The building is two storeys high and consists of four bays. The front displays irregular 20th-century shopfronts flanked by single recessed doors, with four renewed glazing bar sash windows above. The rear wings reveal exposed timber framing with arch braces and 20th-century windows. Inside, there is a stud wall with curved braces and a strutted crown post roof featuring collars and a spine beam.
