Description
27 and 28 The Strait are two houses that have been converted into a flat and two shops. They were built in the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with stone dressings and have roofs covered in asbestos tiles, featuring a single gable and ridge stacks.
The structure has three storeys and three bays. There is an off-centre round-headed close-boarded entry door. To the left, there is a mid-19th century wooden shopfront that includes a half-glazed door and overlight, flanked by single windows, all beneath a corniced fascia. To the right, a smaller shopfront has a single window and a glazed door with an overlight, also under a corniced fascia. Above these shopfronts, there are three glazing bar sashes and a wrought-iron sign bracket with a bracket lamp. Higher up, there are two smaller glazing bar sashes and a 20th-century casement. All the windows feature patterned rubbed brick heads. The interior has not been inspected.
