Description
The Mayor's Parlour is a building located on Saltergate in Lincoln, dating from the late 19th century and incorporating a 15th-century structure. It is constructed of dressed stone and ashlar, featuring ashlar dressings and slate roofs. The building is designed in the Gothic Revival style, which complements the adjacent medieval Guildhall.
Architectural details include a chamfered plinth, a moulded first-floor sill band, coved eaves, and a crenellated parapet. The building is two storeys high and consists of four bays. The ground floor features four-centred arched chamfered openings with linked hoodmoulds. To the left, there is a pair of panelled doors, and to the right, three 3-light pointed arched windows. On the upper floor, there are three 2-light windows with flat heads, with the leftmost window set higher. Additionally, there is a canted stone oriel window on a bracket to the right and a round turret on a bracket at the south-east corner. The interior has not been inspected.
The original 15th-century building on this site served as the City Gaol until 1809.
