Description

Nos. 297A, 298, 299, and 300 on High Street in Lincoln is a former public house, known as the Saracen's Head Hotel, now converted into three shops. This building dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of brick with a stucco front and features a roof made of felt over slates, supported by two ridge and two gable stacks. The building has quoins and a high-quality early 19th-century cast-iron balcony with 16 panels, a moulded cornice, and a coped parapet. It stands three storeys tall and consists of nine bays. The ground floor has three fully glazed shopfronts from the 20th century. Above these, there are nine plain sash windows with cornices, with the four on the right being smaller. There are also nine plain sash windows above, with those on the right positioned at a lower level. The interior has not been inspected.
