Description

Nos. 63 and 65 on Church Street are a pair of shops built in the early 19th century, with some alterations. They are constructed of dressed sandstone and feature a moulded gutter cornice. The stone slate roof has chimneys at the junctions with the adjacent buildings on either side. The shops have a double-depth, two-bay plan and stand two storeys tall. On the ground floor, each shop retains its original shop front, which includes a recessed central doorway and large rectangular shop windows with wooden panelled surrounds. Above the shop windows, there is a plain frieze and a small dentilled cornice that bows over the windows. On the first floor, each shop has two vertical rectangular windows, which are now top-hung casements. The rear of the building has mostly been altered but still includes one three-light flush mullion window and a blocked two-light basement window.
