Description
Nos. 52 and 54 on Market Street are a pair of houses that have been converted into shops. They were built in the early 19th century and have undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The buildings are made of sandstone ashlar and feature a slate roof with gable stacks. They stand three storeys tall above a cellar and have two bays. On the first and second floors, there are tripartite windows with plain reveals, square flush mullions, and sashes that do not have glazing bars. The sills are the only decorative elements on the facade. The ground floors are fitted with 20th-century shop fronts designed in a traditional style. The shop front on the left, for No. 54, extends under No. 54A to the left.
