Description

No. 61 Market Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It was built in the early 19th century and underwent alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building is made of squared coursed sandstone with painted ashlar dressings and has a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and features three bays, with a band above the third-floor windows. The windows are sashed without glazing bars and are set in plain stone surrounds. The ground floor has a shop front, likely from the 1920s, which includes a timber fascia that extends to the right over a yard entrance leading to Bashful Alley, located in the third bay. There is a chimney on the right that is shared with the adjoining building.
