Description
Lane Ends Farmhouse and Barn is a farmhouse and barn built under one roof in the 18th century. It features watershot coursed sandstone that has been whitewashed, and a stone slate roof, which is partially felted. The building has a gable chimney on the right and a ridge chimney at the junction with the barn on the left. The structure has a single pile, 2-bay plan and stands two storeys high.
The entrance is a doorway with a plain surround, offset to the right. The ground floor has rectangular casements with large sills, and on the first floor, there is a stepped triple-light window to the left and a small sashed window to the right of it. The two-bay barn extends to the left and includes a round-arched wagon entrance in the second bay and a plain doorway at the left end. The rear wall is made of coursed rubble and large blocks, which appears to have been altered, with the wagon entrance to the barn removed; it also has two square windows.
Inside, the house features chamfered beams on the ground floor and a stone staircase leading to the upper floor, which was originally open from end to end but now has light board partitions. The barn contains stalls for four cattle, along with a kingpost roof truss and purlins.
