Description
Penrallt Cottage is a farmhouse dated 1779, now functioning as a house. It is constructed of watershot coursed sandstone and features a slate roof with small kneelers, a ridge chimney, and two gable chimneys, along with a modern attic dormer. The building has a double pile, two-bay plan and stands two storeys tall.
The entrance is offset to the left of center, featuring a doorway with a plain surround and a moulded slab canopy supported by beaked brackets. To the left, each floor has a 2-light window with a flush mullion, with the upper window being smaller. To the right, there are coupled similar windows, all of which are now top-hung casements. Above the door on the first floor, there is a datestone with incised decoration and the lettering N T A 1779.
The right return wall has a blocked doorway on the first floor and a tall window. The rear of the cottage includes a doorway with a plain surround, a tall window above this (which serves as a stairlight), and one square window on each floor of the second bay. The interior has been altered, but some beams remain.
