Description
No. 1 Yates Cottages is a small farmhouse with an attached barn, built in the early 19th century. It forms the left half of a row known as Yates Cottages. The building features watershot coursed sandstone and has a stone slate roof with a chimney located at the left gable. No. 1 is a double-depth, single bay structure that stands two storeys high, with a plain doorway and vertical rectangular windows that are integral with the barn. The barn itself is three bays wide and also two storeys tall, showcasing segmental-headed openings. It includes a large wagon doorway with double boarded doors in the middle bay, a window above, and a window along with an upper loading door in each side bay. All these openings are of similar size and shape, featuring segmentally undercut stone lintels. To the right, slightly set back, is No. 3 Yates Cottages.
