Description

These are a pair of cottages built in the late 18th century. They are located on Shaw Clough Road in Rawtenstall. The cottages are constructed of coursed sandstone with a stone slate roof and one chimney on the ridge. Each cottage follows a double-depth plan and has a single bay. They are two storeys high, with a board door to the right of each cottage, a four-light flush mullion window on the ground floor, and two two-light windows above. Inside No. 18, the front ground floor room features chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and there is a stone staircase.
