Description
Nos. 5 and 7 on Main Street are a pair of shops and dwellings dating from the early 19th century, although they have an earlier core. The buildings are constructed of brick and feature a plain tiled roof, with some traces of timber framing visible within. They are two storeys high, each designed as a wide single unit with an inner door leading to the shop front. Number 7 includes a canted bay window with small panes. There is a central arch that leads to a passage at the rear, which is topped by a pedimented canopy. On the upper floor, there are three windows, each with 16 panes and flat arched heads. The buildings have a moulded eaves cornice and a gable end stack on the left, featuring diagonal shafts. Inside, square panelled timber framing can be seen in the walls of the passage.
