Description

Nos. 1 and 3 Lands Lane, along with Nos. 12 and 13 Commercial Street, are shops and chambers built in the early 20th century and altered in the late 20th century. The building features banded terracotta and a slate roof, standing three storeys high with attics. It occupies a corner site with five bays facing Lands Lane and two bays on Commercial Street. The design is in a free style, showcasing finely moulded terracotta statues and decorative details. The ground-floor shop windows were updated in the late 20th century, but original pilasters topped with lions holding shields remain. The building includes round-headed windows, mullion and transom windows, scrolled plaques, and a dentilled cornice at the first floor and eaves. A balustraded parapet fronts the corner turret and is interrupted by dormers featuring stepped ogee gables with deep moulding. The interior has not been inspected.
