Description
Vesper Gate at Kirkstall Abbey is a historic structure located on Vesper Lane in Leeds. It features a wall with gateway or door jambstones made from medieval or 17th century gritstone blocks. The upper part of the gate has been rebuilt, while the lower stones show weathering and consist of nine courses in height. The lower four jambstones have their corners cut away and display the remains of a socket, with iron fittings found in the third stone from the bottom. The upper five jambstones are cut back to accommodate a door rebate, and the chamfer is straight cut in the style typical of the 17th century.
