Description
Kirkstall Forge's former stables, now used as garages, date from the late 18th century and were altered in the 20th century. They were built for the Beecroft and Butler families and are constructed from coursed squared gritstone with a stone slate roof. The building is two stories high and three bays wide. It features a central loft door on the first floor, flanked by sliding casements with glazing bars, and two wide double doors that have been inserted on the ground floor. There are small round-headed windows at the rear. This structure is likely part of the extensive rebuilding of the Kirkstall Forge complex that took place after 1779. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
