Description
Barry Castle is a 17th-century structure built from local rubble with some remaining freestone dressings. The remains include a gateway that is approximately 5 meters high, featuring a pointed arch with chamfered voussoirs and a hoodmould, along with a window opening above. There are portcullis grooves on either side of the gateway. The wall to the left of the gateway steps forward, while two walls extend to the west of the gateway, which were part of the former hall block that has a basement below. The rear wall has an arched doorway and a slit window that is about 2.2 meters high. The south wall consists of foundations only, measuring approximately 7 meters long. At the rear of the gateway, the east wall has a slit window and a blocked stair in the southeast corner.
