Description
The former Church of St Nicholas is a building designed in the Lancet style, constructed from grey stone with bathstone dressings and slate roofs that feature inserted lights. The structure includes a nave with a double belcote, a south porch, a lower chancel, and low stepped buttresses at the angles. On the west side, there is a stepped belcote with two bell arches, and above it, a lancet window is topped by a shallow corbelled arch that extends into the belcote. The south gabled porch has a pointed doorway and low clasping buttresses; to the west of the porch, there is a lancet window, a paired window to the right, and another lancet. The north wall of the nave features three lancets. The chancel, which steps down, has two lancets on the south wall, a triple lancet window on the east, a single lancet on the north wall, and a lean-to vestry.
The limestone is finely dressed and painted over. The building has been converted into a two-storey structure for use as a Scouting centre.
