Description
The Riverside retaining wall with an attached outbuilding is located on the north side of Number 267 High Street in Boston Spa. It was probably built around 1850, coinciding with the date of Number 267. The structure is made of coursed, squared magnesian limestone and features ashlar copings. The retaining wall is battered and stands between 1.5 to 2 meters high. It has gatepiers located opposite the center of the garden front of Number 267 and includes a single-storey, single-celled outbuilding at the west end. The weathered copings of the wall slope down from the higher sections at each end, finishing at simple square gate piers with chamfered caps. The outbuilding has pierced eaves, a door located at the rear, and a hipped roof. This structure is included for its group value.
