Description
Greystones is a house built around 1798, constructed from coursed, squared magnesian limestone with a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys, cellars, and attics, and features six bays. There are external stone steps leading to the door in bay 4, which is a six-panel door with an overlight that has radial glazing bars, set within a 19th-century doorcase adorned with consoles and roundels on the frieze and cornice. Most of the windows are 16-pane sashes with projecting sills and flat arches; however, bay 1 has painted 12-pane sashes, and bay 6 has painted 16-pane sashes. There is also a sash window with glazing bars located above the door. The house has a rebuilt stone ridge stack positioned between bays 2 and 3, along with a stone end stack on the right. The history of the house is detailed in B. M. Scott's work on Boston Spa.
