Description

The Admiral Hawke is a public house built in the early 19th century, with some alterations. It is constructed of coursed, squared magnesian limestone and features a graduated slate roof. The building has two storeys and two bays. To the right of the centre, there is a door with an overlight, framed by an ashlar doorcase that includes pilasters, a plain frieze, and a cornice. On either side of the entrance, there are canted one-storey bay windows with projecting stone sills and stone mullions that separate sashes with 2, 4, and 2 panes, all beneath a plain frieze, cornice, and blocking course. On the first floor, there are four-pane sashes set in flush wooden architraves; the left window has a flat arch, while the right window has a plain lintel. Above the door, there is a blind window recess. The building features a stone end stack on the left, which is shared with Scoreby House, and a pebble-dashed end stack on the right. There are additions to the rear that are not of special interest.
