Description

Dark Wood Cottage is a farm cottage dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble, with some areas having been rebuilt, and features a pitched stone slate roof that has been re-roofed. The cottage is two storeys high and built into the hillside.

On the southeast elevation, the ground floor has a doorway with a stone surround and tie-stones, along with one two-light stone mullioned window. The first floor features a four-light stone mullioned window. The northeast gable has a doorway with a stone surround and tie-stones leading to the first floor. The southwest gable has two single-light windows on the first floor. The northwest elevation has a central doorway to the first floor, which is now blocked. The building is set back into the earth.
