Description
Nos. 27 and 29 Elmwood Avenue are an 18th-century building, possibly with earlier origins. The building is stuccoed with a pitched roof of stone slate. It features coped gables and parapets on either side. The building is two storeys high with attics. The main facade, on the east (gabled) elevation, displays raised stucco quoins and six ranges of sash windows with moulded surrounds. There are two doors, each with an oblong fanlight and moulded surround. The attic has a large Venetian window, with the central light blocked, and moulded surrounds. The side elevations are brick, and the north side has a projecting chimneybreast with a tall stack and three three-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor, along with one four-light window on the ground floor. The irregularity of this north elevation suggests that the building was originally timber-framed and has since been re-cased.
