Description
Hagg Leys is a house and former barn that date back to the early 18th century, with some recent alterations. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features quoins. It has a stone slate roof with gable copings on moulded kneelers at the north side and two stacks, one made of ashlar, both topped with caps. A recent dormer has been added to the east pitch of the roof.
The house has two storeys and the east elevation consists of two bays of stone mullioned windows, featuring one window with three lights and another with four lights. The ground floor windows are double chamfered, while the first-floor windows have chamfered mullions. The former barn includes a large doorway on both the east and west elevations, each with a segmental arch, although both doorways have been blocked. The east elevation of the barn has a new four-light stone mullioned window on each floor, designed to match the windows of the house. The west elevation of both the house and barn has been modernized.
On the south gable, there is a doorway with a deep lintel, which is now part of a recent conservatory. The north gable features an entrance that is partially blocked, with a large stone surround and a deep lintel, along with a small window that also has a stone surround. Inside, there are two king post trusses with struts, which have pegged joints and carpenter's marks, although the trusses are partially obscured.
