The Xclusiv, Adjoining Number 51

The Xclusiv, adjoining Number 51, is a former warehouse and office building designed in the Italian Gothic style, dating from around 1870. It is constructed of dressed stone with ashlar dressings. The building has been recently modified to a single storey with a basement, featuring a flat roof and a brick parapet.

The facade consists of seven bays, with a central doorway that has a shouldered arch and a pilaster surround, which includes square pedestals and foliated capitals. Above the doorway is a round arch with an oculus, framed by a gothic arch and a square surround with carved spandrels. The windows on either side of the central entrance have blind round arches topped with Gothic arched hoods and alternately coloured voussoirs. There is also a doorway at the extreme right that mirrors the central treatment, complete with a semi-circular fanlight.

This building is included in the listing for its contribution to the sequence of finely decorated warehouse facades along Station Road from the same period, despite many of the original structures being largely dismantled.
