Description
This barn, part of a group, dates from the 17th century and is located at Denby Grange Nurseries, positioned at a right angle to the main range. It is constructed of thinly coursed rubble and features ventilation slits and quoins. The interior includes timber framing, and the roof is made of stone slate, adorned with hollow chamfered gable copings on cut kneelers, one of which has a finial. The south side has two large segmental-headed cart entrances, likely from the 18th century, which are now glazed. There is a smaller entrance to the left with a chamfered surround and a Tudor arched entrance in the gable, along with later entrances. An outshut is present on the north side.
Inside, the barn consists of four bays and features three king-post trusses with struts, supported by posts with an aisle to the north side. Aisle ties are present, with struts extending to the principal rafter. There is bracing to the tie-beam, although the bracing to the aisle tie is now missing. The wall plates on the north side are made of reused timbers.
