Description
Briestfield Wesleyan Methodist Church is a small rural chapel built in 1825. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with the sides and rear rendered. The building features a low-pitched stone slate roof with gable copings and moulded brackets supporting the gutter. It is a single-storey structure, with two storeys at the rear due to the sloping ground. The front has three bays, including a round-arched central doorway with a panelled door and round-arched flanking windows that have marginal glazing.
Inside, the chapel was re-pewed in the 1860s, arranged to focus on the pulpit located against the back wall. This chapel is a good example of a mid-19th century single-storey layout and fittings.
