Description

Nos. 1 and 2 Cop Side are a large farmhouse, dated 1766 as indicated by a datestone. The farmhouse is constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with some parts rendered, and has a pitched stone slate roof with coped gables. Moulded footstones are present, and there are two rendered chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high, with the ground floor set back to earth.

The south elevation of the house features a central doorway with large stone surrounds and tie-stones. Above the doorway is a datestone inscribed "E B S B 1 7 6 6". Below the doorway is a recessed 7-light stone mullioned window, with a larger central light and flush King mullions to either side. To the east of this is a recessed 6-light stone mullioned window. The first floor of the south elevation has four recessed 3-light stone mullioned windows. The west gable is rendered and has a lean-to extension; the east gable features a recessed 2-light stone mullioned window on the first floor, along with a single-storey extension with a pitched stone slate roof and quoins. The north elevation has the ground floor set back to earth, and the first floor features four single-light windows. A barn is separately listed.
