Description

Number 49 and the adjoining barn, dating from 1810, form a single range of a farmhouse and barn. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a pitched stone slate roof with a coped gable on the southwest side. There is one ashlar stack and one later stack.

The farmhouse has two storeys. On the southeast elevation, the ground floor includes a central doorway with stone surrounds and tie-stones, flanked by one 4-light and one 2-light stone mullioned window. The first floor has three 3-light stone mullioned windows. A datestone with decorative surrounds reads "W.R 1810". On the northwest elevation, the ground floor features one 2-light stone mullioned window and one single light, while the first floor has one 2-light stone mullioned window. The northeast gable has a small square vent at the apex.

The barn's southwest elevation includes an extension built of coursed rubble with a pitched stone slate roof, which is not included in the listing. The northwest elevation has small doorways without surrounds, which are later additions. The southeast elevation features a large central doorway with an elliptical arched head, alongside a small doorway (within the extension) that has stone surrounds and tie-stones, and two later single lights at the upper level.
