Description
No 14 on High House Lane is an early to mid 19th-century weaver's cottage that has undergone modern alterations and rebuilding. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a pitched stone slate roof with a coped gable to the north that rests on moulded footstones. The building has three storeys.
On the east elevation, the ground floor has a central doorway flanked by two three-light stone mullioned windows, which are of later date. The first floor contains two multiple light windows that have been altered and lack a surrounding frame. The second floor features a later addition of a ten-light stone mullioned window, which was placed over what was formerly a barn.
The west elevation has a large central barn doorway with a semi-circular arched head, although this has been partially blocked with a small doorway. There is also another small doorway with a stone surround. On the first floor, there are two single light windows, one of which is blocked. The second floor has one three-light stone mullioned window. This building is included for its group value.
