Description
Linthwaite Methodist Chapel is a Methodist chapel dated 1867. It is constructed of hammer dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a pitched stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and a basement, with a continuous first floor still band. The chapel is six bays long and has a four-bay pedimented front. The ground floor windows are segment headed, while the first floor windows are round arched, with those on the side elevations featuring an impost band. The central bay projects slightly and contains two round arched, six-panelled doors set within cambered heads. The cornice area is supported by four console brackets with foliated bases. At the first floor level, there is a paired round arched window, with single lights on each side for both floors. A large tablet in the tympanum reads in raised capitals: "METHODIST CHURCH ERECTED 1867". The stained glass in the basement level window on the north elevation is flat.
