Description
Whitelea Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from 1769, with later alterations. It is built from coursed narrow, hammer-dressed stone with large quoins made of millstone grit. The roof is pitched and covered with blue slate, featuring a tiled ridge, and there is a rendered brick chimney. The building has two storeys.
On the east elevation, the ground floor features a door with a deep millstone grit lintel inscribed with "IB 1769" and stone jambs that include large tie-stones. There is also one 2-light double chamfered stone mullioned window, although the mullion has been removed. The first floor has later windows with stone surrounds and modern casements.
The north gable, at a lower ground level, has one 3-light recessed chamfered stone mullioned window, with two lights blocked. Above the doorway, there is a stone-carved face.
On the west elevation, the ground floor includes one 4-light double chamfered stone mullioned window, from which two mullions have been removed, and one 5-light double chamfered stone mullioned window, also with two mullions removed. The first floor has two 4-light chamfered stone mullioned windows, each with two mullions removed.
