Description

No. 15 Wellington Road is a large Italianate commercial building dating from the late 19th century, located on a corner site. It is constructed of ashlar stone with rusticated quoins, and the ground floor features some vermiculation. The building rises to four storeys and includes sill bands, a deep bracketed eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The facade has 14 bays, arranged in groups of 4, 1, 2, and 3 bays, with a 4-bay return into Bond Street on the left side. The single bay contains the entrance, which is framed by a broad concave surround. The ground floor windows are round-arched, featuring voussoirs and vermiculated keystones. The first-floor windows are adorned with architraves, a pulvinated frieze, and triangular pediments, with the central pediments supported on consoles. The second-floor windows have square heads, a frieze, and a small cornice, while the third-floor windows feature cambered heads, small cornices, and architraves with chambranles.
