Description

Nos. 9, 11, and 13, including No. 26 Bond Street, represent a group of wool textile warehouses and offices dating from the mid to late 19th century. No.9, formerly a warehouse, combines with No. 26 Bond Street to form a single building; the warehouse occupies the northern end with offices to the south. The Wellington Road East elevation of No. 9 is three-storey and gabled with three bays. A small doorway with a four-panel door and overlight is located to the right. Taking-in doors are present on each floor of the central bay, flanked by single glazing bar sashes. A previously existing window on the ground floor left has been bricked up. A small, central Diocletian window, originally featuring a keystone, is now bricked up above the first floor.

No. 11, dating from around 1800, is an office with a moulded cornice and ground, first, and second floor cill bands. It is two bays wide and three storeys high, with a doorway containing a panel door and overlight to the right and a blocked sash window to the left. Two sashes are located above, followed by two more similar sashes on the second floor.

No. 13, dating from around 1850, is a warehouse and office constructed with rusticated quoins. It features a ground floor impost band, first, second, and third floor cill bands, and a deeply moulded cornice. The Wellington Road front is three storeys high with six bays plus an additional three bays. An off-centre doorway has a round-headed surround and a panel door; to the left are two round-headed sashes and to the right, six further round-headed sashes. Above are nine sashes in moulded surrounds, followed by nine further sashes with moulded surrounds and flat hoods, and then a final tier of nine smaller, segment-headed sashes. The curved single bay entrance front to the west features a round-headed doorway, a single sash above in a moulded surround and hood, and another single sash above that.

The Bond Street front of the main block is five bays wide, with fenestration similar to that of the Wellington Road front. To the right is a four-bay warehouse front with a flat-headed cart entrance featuring double panelled gates to the left and three round-headed sashes in moulded surrounds to the right. Above are four sashes in moulded surrounds with hoods, followed by four sashes with segment heads, four small panels, and finally four further sashes.

No. 26 Bond Street, an office from around 1800, incorporates a moulded cornice, a rusticated ground floor, and first, second, and third floor cill bands, along with quoins. The three-bay, four-storey structure features a doorway to the left with a double panel door and overlight, and three boarded windows to the left. Above are three sashes in moulded surrounds, followed by three slightly smaller sashes, also in moulded surrounds, and another three slightly smaller sashes above that.
