This is an early to mid-19th century terrace of three houses located on Leysmoor Road, Golcar. The houses are constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with No. 278 being painted. They have pitched stone slate roofs and four stone chimneys, two of which have decorative tabling.

The south-east elevation has a ground floor with three doorways, each with a stone surround. It also includes three four-light stone mullioned windows (one of which has had two mullions removed), one three-light stone mullioned window, one two-light stone mullioned window, and one modern window with a stone surround. The first floor has five three-light stone mullioned windows (with one mullion removed on one window), and one four-light stone mullioned window. A continuous sill band runs along the first floor windows.
