Description
These are early to mid-19th century houses, originally part of a row of back-to-back properties, located on Parkwood Road in Golcar. They are constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with portions rendered, and have pitched stone slate roofs. The gables have copings set on moulded footstones, and paired stone brackets support the gutter.
The south elevation has two and three storeys. The ground floor features two doorways within modern porches, three four-light stone mullioned windows, and one three-light stone mullioned window. The first floor has two four-light stone mullioned windows, one five-light stone mullioned window (with one light blocked and one jamb removed), and one six-light stone mullioned window (with two lights blocked and two jambs removed). The north elevation of number 16 has ground floor entrances with stone surrounds and tie-stones, two three-light stone mullioned windows (one having both mullions removed). The first floor features two six-light stone mullioned windows, one with one mullion removed, and another with two mullions removed. Number 14’s north elevation has ground floor entrances with stone surrounds and two casement windows, possibly former two-light windows. The first floor has three casement windows with stone surrounds, and the second floor has one three-light stone mullioned window, and one eight-light stone mullioned window. A pronounced sill band runs continuously across the elevations. The east gable has three casement windows, and there is a small stone lean-to extension.
