Description

This is an early to mid-18th century terrace of six houses, located on Upper Wellhouse Road in Golcar. The houses are constructed of hammer-dressed stone and have pitched stone slate roofs with coped gables. Moulded footstones are present. Each house has a mix of three and two-storey elements.

The south-east elevation shows varying window arrangements. Number 62 has a stone-surrounded entrance, a 6-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor, two 3-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor, and an 8-light stone mullioned window on the second floor. Number 64 features a central stone-surrounded entrance with tie-stones, a 4-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor (with two mullions removed and a double lintel), a 3-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor (with one mullion removed), and three 3-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor. Number 66 has a stone-surrounded entrance with tie-stones, a 6-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor, and two 3-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor. Number 68 displays a central stone-surrounded entrance with tie-stones, a 5-light and a 3-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor, and two 3-light and one 5-light stone mullioned window on the first floor.

The north-west elevation includes a blocked 3-light stone mullioned window on the first floor of number 62, and a former 3-light stone mullioned window on the first floor of number 64, which has been partially blocked to form a small light. Number 66 has a stone-surrounded entrance with tie-stones, and blocked 3-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor. Number 68 has a very small single light.

The north-east gable is rendered and includes a later single light on the ground floor and a 3-light stone mullioned window on the first floor. The south-west gable has a blocked single light to the attic, a blocked 4-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor, and a lean-to extension of a later date.
