Description
Nos 76 and 78 on Lower Wellhouse Road are two houses built in the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and feature large quoins on the east elevation. The pitched stone slate roof has coped gables resting on moulded footstones and is topped with three ashlar stacks. The buildings are two storeys tall, with the ground floor at the back set into the earth.
On the east elevation, the ground floor includes an entrance with a stone surround, a five-light stone mullioned window, and three four-light stone mullioned windows. The first floor has two four-light stone mullioned windows and two three-light stone mullioned windows, one of which has one light blocked. The west elevation features two entrances with stone surrounds, one of which is partially blocked. The north gable has a small lean-to extension on the ground floor and a three-light stone mullioned window on the first floor, with each side light blocked. In the attic, there are two single lights with stone surrounds, both of which are blocked.
