Description
Number 2, Copley Bank Road is an early to mid 19th century back-to-back house, part of a group that includes numbers 4, 8, and 10. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with some parts rendered, and features a pitched stone slate roof with a coped gable and stone brackets. The building has three storeys, with the ground and first floors set back to earth.
On the northeast elevation, the ground floor includes a central doorway with stone surrounds and tie-stones, flanked by two three-light stone mullioned windows that have continuous sills and heads. The first floor has one three-light stone mullioned window and one five-light stone mullioned window. The second floor features one three-light stone mullioned window and one five-light stone mullioned window as well.
The northwest gable has a first-floor two-light stone mullioned window, a three-light stone mullioned window on the second floor, and an attic with a two-light stone mullioned window. The southwest elevation has three entrances on the second floor, each with stone surrounds and tie-stones, although one is partially blocked. Additionally, there is one two-light stone mullioned window and one single light window, which is also blocked.
