Description

Two houses, numbers 52 and 54 Clough Lane, were built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. They are constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone with graduated stone slate and slate roofs. Each house is a double-depth, single-bay design, extending over three storeys. Number 52 features a gable entrance with a dressed stone surround. It has four 2-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows, and a blocked dove-cote to its gable. The south-facing elevation displays ashlar quoins and windows with 5, 5, and 6 lights. A gable chimney stack is also present. The rear elevation has 2 and 6-light windows. Number 54 has a gable entrance that is now partially obscured by a 20th-century porch. The north elevation shows a square-cut door surround and quoins. The south elevation has three 6-light recessed chamfered stone mullion windows. It also has a gable chimney stack.
